Kats brought home several top-three finishes from the Mary Phillips Invitational
The Erie Community College track and field team brought home several
top-three finishes from the Mary Phillips Invitational hosted by SUNY
Fredonia Saturday. There was no team score kept at the meet.
Sophomore Samantha Gray was the lone winner on the day for the Kats
when she completed the 400-meter dash in 1:08.15. Renee Valentino was
second in the 55-meter hurdles in 10.44. Erie finished second and third
in the one mile run. Sophomore Amanda Solley completed the race in
5:39.52 and Kateri Walsh finished the race in 5:53.86.
On the men’s side, sophomore Alvin Codner took second in the 55-meter
dash in 6.74 seconds. Sophomore Israel Reyes was second in the
400-meter dash in 52.80.
In the field events, Kevin green finished in the top three in three
events. He was second in the high jump (1.72 meters) and third in the
long jump (6.13 meters) and the triple jump (11.86 meters). Terrence
Connell finished second in the long jump with a leap of 6.17 meters and
Jesse Federo was second in the triple jump with a distance of 12.38
meters. Freshman Brandon Ganschow’s shot put throw of 13.2 meters was
good enough for second place.
