For the latest information on the upcoming NJCAA Bowling Invitational Championships listen Thursday when ECC coaches Roy Decibus, Tom Ruggerio and Ken Duke will appear on 102.9 FM, 1230 AM, 1340 AM as well as online at www.BreezeBuffalo.com
. Their segment of the show will run from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday. The bowling championships will be March 1-2 at the Thruway Lanes in Cheektowaga.
The ECC coaches will talk about the Kats' success in the tournament, the tournament's history in the Buffalo area and possibly give an insight on which teams will contend for the 2013 titles.
Peter Jerebko, the Kats' athletics director, is scheduled to also appear on the broadcast.
Having guided the ECC men's bowling program to three national titles, men's head coach Roy Decibus looks to extend the Kats success this season. Decibus led the Kats to their 18th national title in 2011, highlighed by David
Zajac's all-events title. A six-time NJCAA Coach of the Year, Decibus has had numerous All-America and professional bowlers come through the program. Joe Ciccone and Brad Angelo were both chosen as PBA Rookies of the Year while Ryan Ciminelli won on the 2011 PBA Tour. After bowling for the team in 1990-1992, he became the head coach for the 2002-03 season.
Tom Ruggiero is in his 11th season as the Lady Kats head coach and has gained eight Coach of the Year awards during his tenure. The Kats won five national titles during his reign.
Ken Duke has been associated with the ECC bowling program for almost 20 seasons. A member of national championships as both a player and coach, Duke is a four-time NJCAA Coach of the Year and a member of both the NJCAA Bowling Coach's Hall of Fame and the Erie Community College Athletics Hall of Fame.
