BUFFALO, N.Y. - Feb. 18 - Dequan Jones (Brooklyn, N.Y./Pacific), a sophomore guard on the Erie Community College men's basketball team, scored a career-high 31 points as the Kats downed Monroe Community College 88-76 Saturday afternoon at the Flickinger Center. Freshman forward Eyimofee Edukugho (Warri, Nigeria/Our Savior New American School) added 19 points and five blocked shots while sophomore foward Uche Ogbonna (Westbury, N.Y./Hicksville) recorded his fourth double-double of the season with 14 points and 11 rebounds.
The teams traded runs in the first half as the Kats held a 35-34 lead at the break. ECC broke from a 49-43 lead when Jones scored 10 of the Kats' next 15 points as they built a 64-47 lead with 8:02 remaining.
The Kats will play Mercyhurst North East at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Flickinger Center.
