Former ECC softball/basketball All-America Pam Amabile has been named as a member of the 13-member 2013 class to be inducted into the Greater Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame.
Amabile threw four no-hitters during her days with the Kats’ softball teams. She was named All-Region III following the 1978 and 1979 seasons and was an All-America selection in 1978 after hitting .568. In 1979, she went 10-1, tossing three no-hitters. The Kats appeared in the 1978 and 1979 NJCAA National Tournaments, recording a 43-5 record over those seasons.
She also was a two-time All-Region III selection in basketball and averaged 21.5 points per game in the 1977-78 season. In addition to earning NJCAA All-America honorable mention honors, she led the Kats to back-to-back Penn-York Conference championships.
The Greater Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame honors those who have enhanced their lives with their performances and commitment to Western New York sports, an effort surpassed only by the positive impressions they have left on the athletes of tomorrow. This is the 23rd class to be inducted into the Hall of Fame since its inception in 1991 and brings total membership to 267.
