CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y, - Dec. 11 – The Erie Community College hockey team improved to 11-1 with a 15-0 win over Mohawk Valley Community College Sunday afternoon at the Cheektowaga Rec Center. The 15 goals are the most since ECC picked up 16 in a 16-0 win over Community College of Allegheny County-North Jan. 9, 2010. ECC recorded a 31-1 win over Hudson Valley Community College Jan. 11, 1992.
The Kats, ranked second in the NJCAA polls, scored six first-period goals – two on the power play – on their way to the win.
Freshman forward Scott Roy (Rockland, Ont.) – the nation’s leading scorer now with 21 goals and 14 assists – and sophomore forward Mark Trigilio (Orchard Park, N.Y./Orchard Park) each scored three goals and added two assists.
Sophomore forward Dirk Thur (Clarence Center, N.Y./Clarence) added three goals and an assist while sophomore forward Christopher Kendall (Cheektowaga, N.Y) picked up four assists.
Sophomore forward John Rabb (Depew) had two goals and an assist while freshman forward Joshua Jaszcz (Cheektowaga, N.Y./West Seneca East) had a goal and two assists.
The Kats will play Monroe Community College, the nation’s top-ranked team, Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Cheektowaga Rec Center.
