CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. – Feb. 12 – The Erie Community College hockey team picked up its second win in as many days as the Kats recorded a 6-4 win Sunday over Canisius College (AHCA) at the Cheektowaga Rec Center. The win pushes the Kats, the nation's second-ranked team, to 18-4 overall.
Freshman forward Scott Roy (Rockland, Ont.) scored with 6:33 remaining to break a 5-4 tie. Freshman forward Joshua Jaszcz (Cheektowaga, N.Y./West Seneca East) added an empty-net goal for the final score.
Canisius took a 2-0 lead before the Kats tied it later in the first period. ECC then took a 4-2 lead in the second period on goals by Mark Trigilio (Orchard Park, N.Y./Orchard Park) and Frank Briandi (Tonawanda, N.Y.) scored 58 seconds apart. Canisius then tied the game midway through the third period before Roy’s go-ahead goal.
ECC and Canisius will play again Feb. 20 at 1 p.m. at the Cheektowaga Rec Center.
