HOLYOKE, Mass. - Sept. 25 - The Erie Community College volleyball team won its win streak to seven by winning four matches Saturday at the Holyoke (Mass.) Community College Tournament.
The Kats defeated New Hampshire Tech, 27-25, 25-21; UMass club team, 25-17, 22-25, 15-12; Nashua Community College, 25-5, 25-11; and Springfield JV, 25-17, 25-11. The Kats are now 11-8 overall and will play Northern Essex and Hudson Valley Community College in pool play Sunday before the championship round.
Molly Gasuik (Buffalo/Mt. Mercy Academy) recorded 15 aces in the four matches while Alex DiGiore (Hamburg/Frontier) had 27 kills, 10 coming against the UMass club team. Nikki Kreuzer (Angola/Lake Shore) recorded eight aces against Springfield.
"Nikki really stepped up and played well for us," ECC head coach Craig Starzynski said. "With a balanced attack and everyone playing hard, we rolled through to finish the day strong."
