Kats Sweep Burlington CC, Run Win Streak to Nine

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - March 16 - The Erie Community College baseball team has now won nine-straight games as the Kats recorded a doubleheader sweep of Burlington County (N.J.) College Friday afternoon. The Kats, the nation's sixth-ranked team, won by scores of 5-0 and 10-3 to run their record to 9-1. ECC closes its Florida schedule Saturday against the St. Thomas junior varsity.

Sophomore pitcher Brandon Nemeti (Lancaster, N.Y./Lancaster) picked up his second win of the year by striking out five and allowing three hits in six innings in game one. Sophomore outfielder Dylan Huch (Gowanda, N.Y./Gowanda) drove in two runs while sophomore Mike Wagner (Williamsville, N.Y./St. Mary's had two hits).

Sophomore pitcher Rich Corrente (Chatham, Ont./ESPC) also won his second game of the season as he recorded four strikeouts and gave up three hits in five innings. Freshman Ricky Mendiola (Williamsville, N.Y./Williamsville South) had a pair of doubles in his three hits. He also drove in two runs. Sophomore TJ Singh (Toronto, Ont./Holy Trinity) scored twice and had a pair of hits.
