ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. - May 25 - Justin Miller, a member of the 2011 Erie Community College football team, died recently as a result of a homicide. Miller, from Buffalo/Bennett H.S., appeared in six games for the 2011 Kats as a running back and on the special teams units. In his college debut against the College of DuPage (Ill.), Miller threw a 25-yard touchdown pass on a halfback pass. For the season, Miller carried the ball 12 times for 26 yards, recording long rushes of 13 yards against Nassau Community College and Lackawanna College. He also recorded a tackle against Nassau.
“Our thoughts and prayers go to his family as a result of this tragedy. Justin was a great person and a great athlete who just loved playing football," said Dennis Greene, ECC head coach. "Justin died much too soon, and his passing is a terrible reminder that life is all too short. On behalf of everyone at ECC, our thoughts are with his friends and family at this difficult time.”
Miller was buried Friday.
