The Erie Community College men's soccer team suffered its first loss of the season Wednesday, falling 4-0 to Monroe Community College at the ECC South Campus Field. The win snapped the Kats' four-game win streak to open the season. The win streak was the longest to open a season in program history.
After scoring the game's first goal, Monroe CC then caught a break right before halftime when ECC goalkeeper Craig Raines (Gloucester, Va.) made a save but the rebound went directly to a Monroe player who promptly scored.
"It wasn't all doom and gloom," ECC head coach Bernie Feldmann said. "We just made some mistakes at critical times. And Monroe was the better team today."
"We can't expect Craig to win games for us as he's a midfielder stuck playing goalie due to injuries," Feldmann continued. "He made two great saves to keep us in the game when we were down 1-0. He's doing a great job for us."
Raines finished with 10 saves.
ECC plays North Country Community College Sunday at 1 p.m. at the ECC South Campus Field.
