Kats Split Twin Bill against Onondaga CC

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - April 5 - The Erie Community College baseball team got two solid pitching performances Thursday but came away with a split in Region III action against Onondaga CC. Onondaga CC picked up a 2-0 win in the opener but the Kats recorded an 8-2 win in game two.

The Kats, now 13-9 overall and ranked sixth in the nation, had freshman Vinny Sherman (North Collins, N.Y./North Collins) get three hits and drive in three runs in the nightcap to back the pitching of sophomore Ron Lawrence (Cheektowaga, N.Y./Cleveland Hill). Lawrence allowed six hits and struck out four on his way to pitching a complete game. Freshman Nick Galenti (Cheektowaga, N.Y./St. Mary's added two hits and two RBI.

In the opener, sophomore Mike Tolsma (Tonawanda, N.Y./Tonawanda) struck out six and allowed three hits, all in the first inning.

ECC returns to the diamond at 1 p.m. Saturday with a doubleheader against Jamestown CC at the ECC North Campus.
