BUFFALO, N.Y. - March 22 - Five Members of the Erie Community College women's bowling team were recently named to the National Collegiate Bowling Coaches Association (NCBCA) Academic All-America team. Earlier this month, the Kats won the NJCAA National Bowling Invitational Championship, the program's 28th national title, at the Thruway Lanes in Cheektowaga. To be on the team, bowlers needed to have a 3.5-or-higher grade-point average.

Freshmen Elizabeth Szpara (Orchard Park, N.Y./Orchard Park), who finished second in the NJCAA Championships' All-Event standings, and Gabrielle Damin (Clarence, N.Y./Clarence), who was second in the NJCAA Championships singles competition, were two of the five Kats selected. Also on the team were freshmen Jennifer Greis (Alden, N.Y./Alden), Tallie Papke (Angola, N.Y./Lake Shore) and sophomore Sara Taulbee (Orchard Park, N.Y./Orchard Park).
