ECC Baseball Wins DH

NORTH EAST, Pa. (Sept. 5, 2010) -- Freshman pitcher Jesse Zellner (Tonawanda/Tonawanda High) struck out 10 batters and allowed only two hits while pitching a five-inning complete game to lead the Erie Community College baseball team to a 12-1 victory over Mercyhurst North East in Western New York Athletic Conference action Sunday. ECC won the nightcap, 6-2. ECC scored three runs in the second inning before erupting with a six-run fourth. Travis Denman had a two-run triple in the frame while Matt Creenan added a two-run single. Kyle O'Brien and Cory Bukowski also drove in two runs each in the opener.

In game two, Mike Tolsma (Tonawanda High) struck out six batters in five innings. He gave up two hits and did not allow a run. Leftfielder Dylan Huch had three hits, scored three runs and stole two bases in the contest. In the two games, Mike Wagner collected four hits and scored three runs.

ECC, now 2-2, plays Monroe Community College at 1 p.m. Saturday at the ECC North Campus Field.
