The Erie Community College (8-12) softball team ran its winning streak to eight games with a doubleheader sweep of Jamestown Community College this afternoon in Williamsville. Erie won the opener 11-1 and the second game 8-3.

Erie took advantage of six walks and two hit by pitches to score nine runs in the first inning of the opener. Sophomore pitcher Carolyn Sickau was two-for-two with a double and an RBI to lead the Kats’ attack, which despite scoring 11 runs only had four hits in the game. Sickau also picked up the win, allowing just one run on three hits. She struck out six and walked two.

Erie also had just three hits in the second game but once again took advantage of the free passes. Freshman Courtney Bonivissuto was one-for-two with two stolen bases and three runs scored. Freshman Alyssa Taborn also was one-for-two and scored two runs. Taborn was hit by pitch four times during the doubleheader.

Freshman Stacy Neelin pitched five innings to pick up the win. She allowed three runs on eight hits.
