ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (Sept. 11, 2010) - The Erie Community College men's soccer team (4-0) defended its home field Saturday, shutting out Fulton-Montgomery Community College (0-3), 5-0, to remain unbeaten on the season.
"We were able to get our entire roster into the game and everybody contributed in today’s win," first-year head coach Bernie Feldmann said.
ECC's first goal came in the 16th minute of play when freshman Adan Mukumbira (Grover Cleveland) fed classmate Trevor Vanderbush (Holland) in the slot.
The Kats second goal came on a direct kick. Freshman Omar Sundi (Grover Cleveland) scored on a pass from rookie Abdo Yahya (Lackawanna) in the 23rd minute.
Freshman Pablo Ordonez (Cheektowaga) closed the first half of scoring when Vanderbush found Ordonez in the slot in the 27th minute.
Mukumbira scored his seventh goal of the season in the 80th minute when he blasted a shot past the Raiders goalkeeper.
Closing out the scoring to ECC was freshman Craig Wittman (Buffalo) who took a feed from sophomore Andrew Westpfahl (Lackawanna) in the box in the 84th minute.
Sophomore Craig Raines (Gloucester, Va.) picked up his second shutout, making 11 saves, including diving tip to put the ball over the crossbar in the 85th minute.
