WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. – Sept. 16 – The Erie Community College baseball team picked up two wins in Sunday’s Western New York Athletic Conference doubleheader against Jamestown CC at the ECC North Campus.
The Kats, now 5-3, won 11-1 and 13-3 over Jamestown CC. Sophomore Brian Barry (Derby, N.Y./Lake Shore) hit two home runs in the opener and then added a grand slam in the second game. He finished the series with five hits and eight runs batted in.
In the opener, sophomore Cody Alessi (Port Richey, Fla./East Lake) threw a no hitter for 5 and 2/3 innings. He struck out eight in the contest. Barry had a two-run homer as the Kats took a 4-0 lead after one inning and added two runs in the second. Josh Vaccaro (Buffalo, N.Y./Canisius) and David Wright (West Oneonta, N.Y./Oneonta) each had two hits and scored twice.
In game two, Jamestown CC had a 3-0 lead before the Kats rallied. ECC scored twice in the second inning and added six runs in the third inning. ECC plated five runs in the fifth to win the game. Michael Ryerson (Sandusky, Ohio/Perkins) led ECC with three hits to go with two RBI and two runs scored. Joseph Warthling (Tonawanda, N.Y./Tonawanda) recorded two hits, scored two runs and drove in two more. Jacob Weiser (Hamburg, N.Y./Frontier also had a pair of hits.
ECC will play Niagara County CC in Sanborn, N.Y., for a 2 p.m. Wednesday doubleheader.
