ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. - Nov. 2 - Madison Kiernan and Lindsey Boling, sophomores on the Erie Community College women's soccer team, were named to the Academic All-District 1 College Division women's soccer team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Kiernan, a goalkeeper from Angola, N.Y./Immaculata Academy, posted a 7-5 record for the Kats as she posted a 76.1 save percentage and a 2.08 goals-against average. Kiernan carries a 3.53 grade-point average while majoring in physical education. She finished her ECC career with 14 wins and three shutouts.
Boling, a midfielder from Alden, N.Y./Alden, has a 3.45 GPA in physical education. She recorded five assists this season and also appeared in five games as the Kats' goalkeeper. Boling was a member of the 2012 ECC softball team.
As a result of being named to the all-district team, Kiernan and Boling are now under consideration for the Capital One Academic All-America® Team as selected by CoSIDA.
Since 1952, CoSIDA has honored more than 20,000 outstanding student-athletes with this prestigious award, which became known as the Capital One Academic All-America® in 2011. The program used to select teams from just two divisions -- the University Division, comprised of Division I schools; and the College Division, which included Division II, Division III, NAIA schools, and 2-year colleges. To better honor the diversity of collegiate talent, however, the program was expanded in 2011 to include four divisions: Division I, Division II, Division III, and the College division that includes NAIA, two-year colleges, and Canadian schools.
