The Erie Community College School of Dental Hygiene will hold its eleventh annual Student Research Poster Session Competition on Friday, March 23 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. inside the cafeteria of North Campus's Spring Student Center.
Senior ECC Dental Hygiene students will present their research on a topic related to the dental hygiene profession. Topics will include oral cancer screening techniques, a gel which may regenerate decayed teeth, effects of oral piercings on the oral cavity, use of lasers in dentistry and controversies related to removing or not removing wisdom teeth.
More than 30 Western New York dentists and dental hygienists will judge the competition. The winning students will receive monetary awards for first, second and third place. This annual event is underwritten by the Buffalo Dental Hygienists' Association, the Eighth District and Erie County Dental Societies, Henry Schein Dental Company and Ivoclar Dental.
