The Erie Community College
women’s lacrosse team opened an 11-4 lead midway through the second half and held on for a 13-10 win over Jefferson Community College
this afternoon at Jim Ball Stadium in Orchard Park
Freshman Sarah Kirchberger led the way for Erie with four goals and one assist. Freshman Kelsey McKeown had three goals and four assists. Sophomores Laura Nerber and Jessica Flowers finished with three and two goals, respectively.
Freshman Jessica Czamara finished with nine saves in net for Erie.
“Today’s win was one of the biggest in the program’s short history,” stated head coach Nick Wagner. “With four yellow cards, we played much of the second half short-handed but the girls continued to fight hard for the win.”
With the win, Erie improves its record to 3-1 and already has surpassed its win total (2) of the previous four seasons of the program. The Kats return to action Saturday, April 3 when they visit Broome Community College for a 2 p.m. contest.
