BUFFALO, N.Y. - Feb. 25 - The Erie Community College men's basketball team opened Saturday's game with a 17-0 run and never looked back in its 88-51 win over Jamestown Community College-Cattaraugus County at the Flickinger Center. The game was the final regular season home game for ECC's nine sophomores.
The Kats, the nation's fourth-ranked team, improved to 22-4 overall and 12-2 in Western New York Athletic Conference play. ECC repeats as the WNYAC champion.
Sophomore guard Haruna Sule (Kano, Nigeria/Ahmadiyya) led the Kats 18 points. Sophomore guard Sam Hattin (Hamilton, Ont./Our Savior) added 16 points while freshman guard Darale Young (Buffalo, N.Y./Middle College) pitched in 14 points and a game-high four steals. Sophomore forward Anthony Mason (Brooklyn, N.Y./Bedford Academy) snared a career-high 12 rebounds.
ECC's Flickinger Center will be the host site the Region III Tournament semifinals and championship game. The semifinals are slated to take place at 1 and 3 p.m. March 3 while the championship game starting at 1 p.m. March 4. Pairings will be announced at a later date. The Kats are the defending Region III Tournament champions.
