ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. – Louisburg (N.C.) College (1-0) took advantage of nine Erie Community College turnovers and recorded a 48-12 victory Saturday over the Kats (0-1) at Jim Ball Stadium in the season opener for both programs.
The Kats’ Taylor Henry threw for two touchdowns, a 6-yard pass to Gavin Gaiser, and a 3-yard strike to Obadiah Dykes. Henry, a freshman from Cambridge, Md., completed 11 of 28 passes for 86 yards.
Dykes was the Kats’ leading receiver with four receptions with 39 yards.
Louisburg’s Jamaal Williams ran for 131 yards and three touchdowns.
Freshman linebacker Jody Tapley led the Kats with seven solo tackles and two tackles for loss. Sophomore cornerbacks Rashad Payne and Destry Berry each had an interception.
ECC travels to College of DuPage (Ill.) for a 1 p.m. contest Sept. 11.
