Six Kats Named to All-WNYAC Soccer Team

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. – Nov. 1 – Six members of the 2012 Erie Community College men’s soccer team were named to the All-Western New York Athletic Conference team, announced today by the league.
Sophomore goalkeeper Rich Bund (Silver Creek, N.Y./Silver Creek) and sophomore midfielder Taylor Sentz (Hamburg, N.Y./Frontier) were named to the first team. Bund, who was a second-team pick in 2011, leads all NJCAA Division III goalkeepers with 184 saves. He recorded 11 wins this past season with five shutouts. He recorded 19 wins in his two seasons with the Kats. Sentz was the Kats’ second-leading scorer with 13 points (4 goals/5 assists) and three of his goals were game-winning goals, including one in double overtime.
The Kats, who were 11-6 and advanced to the Region III Tournament quarterfinal round for the third-straight season, placed four players on the second team. They are:
  • Chris Aurilio (Williamsville, N.Y./Williamsville South), a freshman defenseman, recorded four goals;
  • Yony Guardado (LaRose, La./Lafourche), a freshman forward, picked up 11 points on five goals and an assist;
  • Phil Karlstom (Silver Creek, N.Y./Silver Creek), a sophomore midfielder, tied Sentz with 13 points (4 goals and five assists) and
  • Mark Tellgren (Springville, N.Y./Springville), a freshman forward, led the Kats with 19 points (8 goals/3 assists).
