SCHENECTADY, NY – The Erie Community College bowling teams competed in two bowling tournaments over the weekend. First was the Boulevard Bowl on Saturday followed by the SCCC Invite on Sunday. Both were held at the Boulevard Bowl Center.
On Saturday, the women picked up their third straight victory as they finished with 7,254 total pins. They were led by Lizzy Gowoski who finished third overall in the singles with a 623 set. Alicia Alquire (Angola, NY / Lake Shore) rounded out the top five for the women with a 619 set.
For doubles, the pair of Alquire and Gowoski finished first overall with a total of 1,351 pins. The pair of Elizabeth Szpara (Orchard Park, NY / Orchard Park) and Gabrielle Damin (Clarence, NY / Clarence) finished third with 1,233 pins.
Overall, Alquire finished first overall for the women with 1,373 total pins.
For the men, they finished seventh overall in the match with a total pin count of 7,112. The highest placing Kat in singles was George Pierce Jr. who finished 12th with a total set of 680.
In doubles, the highest placing Kat duo of Garrett Gibson (Oakfield, NY / Oakfield-Alabama) and Nate Casacci (Orchard Park, NY / Orchard Park) finished 14th with a total pin count of 1,275. Overall pin count for the men would see ECC land Nate Casacci in 9th with a total pin count of 1,378.
On Sunday, the women's three match win streak came to an end as they finished 2nd in the tournament with a total pin count of 6,339.
Leading the women again was Alquire in singles who finished first with a 619 set while Damin rounded out the top five with a 584 set.
In doubles, the duo of Szpara and Damin finished third with 1,193 total pins with no other Kats teammates placing in the top five.
Damin finished second overall for the women with 1,267 total pins while Alquire finished third with 1,194 total pins.
