Lawandus Named NJCAA Special Teams Player of the Week

BUFFALO, N.Y. – Sept. 22, 2010 – The NJCAA named Erie Community College placekicker/punter Michael Lawandus (Lancaster, N.Y./Sweet Home) as the NJCAA special teams player of the week.

Lawandus, a 5-foot-9, 160-pound sophomore, hit the game-winning 41-yard overtime field goal to lift the Kats over Alfred State Sept. 18.  He made both of his field-goal attempts (20 and the career-long 41 yarder). He was also 2-for-2 in PAT attempts and punted 7 times for 241 yards. Two of his punts were downed inside the Alfred State 20.

The Kats face Nassau Community College at noon Saturday at Jim Ball Stadium.
