The Erie Community College (15-11/9-3 Region III West) baseball team pounded out 12 hits in a 14-4 win over Finger Lakes Community College in the nightcap of a doubleheader played in Canandaigua. Finger Lakes (8-18/6-6 Region III West) won the opener 7-6.
Alex Dusenberry, Russ Hurley and Kyle O’Brien each had two hits and two RBI to lead Erie’s balanced attack in the second game. Emilio Arteta had a double and three RBI and Austin Benshadle finished with two hits and an RBI.
Freshman pitcher Cody Dunn picked up the complete game win. He allowed four runs on 10 hits in six innings, striking out two and walking one.
Finger Lakes was able to capitalize on four Erie errors in the opener that led to three unearned runs. Sophomore Shane Latshaw led Erie at the plate with two hits, including a solo home run. Benshadle also had two hits and an RBI.
