BUFFALO, N.Y. – May 3 – Erie Community College sophomore bowler Jenna Law (Midland, Mich.) has been named one of the recipients of the 2010-11 Chancellor’s Scholar-Athlete Award, which recognizes a combination of academic excellence and outstanding athletic achievement at the NCAA Division I and Division III, and NJCAA levels, by State University of New York Chancellor Nancy L. Zimpher.
“This year’s 74 SUNY scholar-athletes have accomplished a great feat, excelling in our classrooms as well as our athletic programs,” said Chancellor Zimpher. “With an average GPA of 3.64 and a number of championship competitions among them, the achievements of our scholar-athletes are cause for cheer. Congratulations to all of this year’s winners.”
The scholar-athletes are selected by System Administration in consultation with the campus athletic directors at each level of play. In honor of the accomplishment, each award recipient will receive a congratulatory letter and a plaque from Chancellor Zimpher.
Law was the 2011 Region III all-events champion and finished a team-best ninth at the 2011 NJCAA Championships.
