COMPUTER REPAIR TECHNOLOGY

Program Description

Computers have revolutionized every facet of American life. From computerized billing systems to automatic tellers, the advancement of computerized devices has created the need for competent technicians to service this modern technology.

The Computer Repair Technology Curriculum is designed to provide the knowledge and skills required in the maintenance and repair of computer equipment and systems. In this curriculum, students learn basic electronics, semiconductor applications, integrated circuits, digital logic, computer programming, and computer repair. Troubleshooting of individual logic devices and computer systems completes the students’ study. Graduates of this curriculum are qualified to maintain all types of computer hardware, write computer programs, isolate and diagnose computer system breakdowns, etc.

Computer Repair Technology graduates may pursue careers in field service, manufacturing, engineering, software development, sales, or technical writing.

Special Admission Requirements/Prerequisites

Applicants should have three units of mathematics (including trigonometry and intermediate algebra), two units of science (physics is preferred), and should be familiar with “basic” programming or equivalent.

Scholarships

The Albert Adams Memorial Scholarship: Monetary amounts to be presented annually to students on the basis of need and academic achievement.
