Eligibility 

Adults 18 years and older with at least six natural teeth and have not had teeth cleaned in past year. Calculus (tartar) build-up in the teeth preferred.

Children have limited times available for 5-17 years of age. Note: Children of all ages must be accompanied by a parent for consent of treatment.

Clinic Policy 

Treatment may be single appointment or more if that is required and will include some combination of the services available listed above. These will always be based on your need for treatment as determined by the examinations.

Some Questions Patients Often Ask

Q: What if you can't keep your appointment?
A: Please inform us at least 24 hours in advance of a cancellation. This will enable us to schedule another patient.

Q: May I bring me children along when I come in for my appointment?
A: Since we do not offer child care services we must ask you to make other arrangements for the care of your children.

Q: How long will it take to complete my dental treatment?
A: The clinic sessions are 3 hours in length. Because it is a teaching clinic, you can expect your treatment to be closely supervised and therefore may take longer to complete. An estimate of time will be given at your first appointment.

Q: Will you tell me if I need other dental treatment?
A: This dental hygiene appointment is not a substitute for examination and treatment by a dentist. However, recommendations for additional professional dental care will be made.

Q: Are there any fees?
A: All services are free.

Periodontal (Gum) Disease
The eight warning signs:

1. Gums that bleed when you brush your teeth.
2. Gums that are red, swollen, or tender.
3. Gums that have pulled away from your teeth.
4. Pus between your teeth and gums when the gums are pressed.
5. Permanent teeth that are loose and separating.
6. Changes in the way your teeth fit together when you bite.
7. Any changes in the way your partial dentures fit.
8. Bad breath.

If you show any of the above symptoms, you may have periodontal disease. Three out of four adults may experience some form of periodontal disease.
