Erie Community College student Stephanie Gardner was among 51 new members of the international honor society Phi Theta Kappa honored by State University of New York Officer-In-Charge John J. O’Connor and New York Community College Trustees Past President Anton N. Kasanof at a ceremony April 7, 2009 in Albany, NY.
The ceremony was jointly sponsored by NYCCT, the New York Community College Association of Presidents and the Faculty Council of Community Colleges.
“I congratulate our students for earning admittance to Phi Theta Kappa, one of the country’s most prestigious academic honor societies for two-year colleges,” O’Connor said. “Together with their families, the community college trustees, campus presidents, faculty and staff, I am pleased to share in the celebration of the outstanding accomplishments achieved by these students.”
"Recognition by Phi Theta Kappa honors not only our students but also their families and all the people who work so hard on the campuses - faculty, staff, administrators and trustees - each and every day to provide an environment of academic excellence and social awareness," NYCCT Past President Anton N. Kasanof said.
