Kats score 32 runs in sweep of Onondaga
The Erie Community College (11-6) baseball team cruised to a doubleheader sweep over Onondaga Community College (0-6) in its Region III opener Sunday afternoon. The Kats pounded out 18 hits and five home runs in a 22-2 win in the opener and used a no-hitter by freshman Andy Tobias to come away with a 10-0 win in the nightcap.

Sophomore Kyle Barclay hit for the cycle and drove in five runs for the Kats in the first game. The Kats hit three home runs and scored 12 runs in the second inning of the game. Sophomore Brad Gibson was two-for-three with a double and a grand slam home run. Sophomore Chris Norman had a three-run home run and finished with four RBI. Freshman Neal DeMartin was two-for-two with three RBI and two stolen bases.

After walking the first two batters, Tobias settled down and allowed just one other base runner in the game. He struck out four and faced the minimum amount of batters. Tobias’ defense helped him get out of the first inning, turning a triple play.

Norman hit a three-run triple in the contest and Gibson had a solo home run.
