Baseball sweeps Corning
The Erie Community College (19-14/8-5 Region III) baseball team ran its winning streak to four games with a doubleheader sweep of Corning Community College Thursday afternoon in Williamsville. Erie won the opener 12-1 and the nightcap 14-4.
Erie had several offensive standouts during the doubleheader. Sophomore Brad Gibson was six-for-six with a double, two home runs and nine RBI in the doubleheader. He was two-for-two with a home run and three RBI in the opener. Kyle Barclay was three-for-four with a double, home run and three RBI.
Freshman pitcher Andy Tobias went the distance to pick up the win on the mound for the Kats. He allowed just two hits and struck out eight in five innings of work.
Gibson topped game one’s performance by going four-for-four with a double, home run and six RBI in the second game. Sophomore Brandon Caboot added three hits.
Freshman pitcher Kevin Hughes allowed four hits in five innings of work to get the win. He struck out seven.
