Nursing graduates honored at Pinning Ceremony May 4
The Erie Community College Nursing Department held its Nursing Senior Class Pinning Ceremony at 6 p.m. Monday, May 4, 2009 in the auditorium of the Gleasner Administration Building at the college’s North Campus, located at 6205 Main St., Williamsville.
The nursing pin is a 1,000-year old symbol of service to others and now identifies the registered nurse as a professional health practitioner. The pin symbolizes the right to service the health care needs of the public through the practice of nursing, and is unique to each nursing school. It communicates that the wearer is competent, educated and possesses professional attributes in the nursing field.
As many hospitals and health care facilities in Western New York are facing a shortage of nurses and trained health care employees, ECC continues to offer an excellent and affordable accredited nursing program to the community. ECC’s program prepares students for employment opportunities as registered nurses in hospitals, public health agencies, nursing homes, extended care facilities, home health agencies and other health care facilities.
