Erie’s Brad Gibson and Brandon Caboot named to All-Region Team
Two members of the Erie Community College baseball team were named to the NJCAA Region III Division III All-Region Team for their performance during the 2009 season. Sophomore catcher Brad Gibson (Cheektowaga/Saint Mary’s) was chosen to the First Team and sophomore second baseman Brandon Caboot (Derby/Timon Saint Jude) was a Second Team selection.
Gibson hit .315 (34-for-108) with seven home runs and 23 RBI in 40 games for the Kats in 2009. His on base percentage stood at .448. In his two-year career at Erie, Gibson hit .320 with 10 home runs.
Caboot hit .385 (52-for-135) with three home runs, 30 RBI and 16 stolen bases. He leaves Erie as one of the college’s all-time leading hitters with 96 hits and a .368 career batting average.
Erie finished the 2009 campaign with a 24-22 record. It was the 17th consecutive winning season for the Kats under Head Coach Joe Bauth.
