Erie Community College sophomores Jessica Mamon (Williamsville/Williamsville South) and Chris Norman (Picton, ONT/Prince Edward) received the SUNY Chancellor Scholar-Athlete Award for their performances on the playing field and in the classroom during their time at Erie. This prestigious award recognizes the best scholar-athlete in each sport from the community colleges in the SUNY system.
Mamon, a general studies major, is a two-time All-American for the Erie Community College women’s bowling team. She led the team to consecutive NJCAA national championships. Mamon was All-Events champion at the 2009 championship.
Norman, who is receiving his degree in Physical Education Studies, was a two-year starter for the Erie Community College baseball team. He was a first Team All-Region III selection and Third Team NJCAA Division III All-American in 2008. In his two-year career at Erie, Norman hit .333 (88-for-264) with 10 home runs and 73 RBI.
