Erie Community College, State University of New York

Erie Community College Tola Lawal (Laurinburg Prep/Brooklyn) was named the freshman male athlete of the year by the Western New York Athletic Conference.

Lawal, a guard on the basketball team, averaged 19.7 points per game over 32 games. He finished second in the conference in scoring and helped his team finish 25-7. He was also named first-team All-Region and second-team All-American.
