Erie Community College freshman Kyle Harman (Orchard Park/Orchard Park) won the 2009 Erie golf team qualifying tournament at Harvest Hill golf course by shooting a two-day total of 158.

Harman shot as a second round 80 to follow his 78 on Tuesday to move from third to first place.

Harman was also named captain of the 2009-10 team.

Finishing in a three-way tie for second at 160 were Jim Merriman (South Wales/East Aurora), Adam Baumeister (Lancaster/Lancaster), and Ryan Winkowski (Lancaster/Lancaster). Winkowski had the day’s low round of 77 highlighted by birdies on the second, sixth, and eighteenth holes. Merriman also had three birdies for the second consecutive day.

Dave Taylor (Buffalo/Timon-St. Jude) rounded out the top five with a second round 80 for a two-day total of 163. Mike Krywcum (Buffalo/St. Joe’s) fired the day’s only other round under 80 with a 79.

Erie opens their 2009 fall season when they host their Fall Invitational on Wednesday September 23 at Harvest Hill.
