Kats ranked seventh after win over Niagara
The Erie Community College volleyball team ground out a 3-2 (25-23, 17-25, 25-22, 21-25, 15-11) win at Niagara County Community College Tuesday evening and is currently ranked seventh in the latest NJCAA Division III poll.

Freshman Alex DiGiore led the way for the Kats with 17 kills on 41 attempts. Freshman Anelys Roig had 24 digs and freshman Katie Boxler ran the offense with 40 assists.

“Our athletes showed a lot of guts tonight,” said head coach Craig Starzynski. “defensively, we protected our court better than we have all year. Against a pretty high-powered offense like Niagara, our defense stepped up and allowed us to take control of the match.”

Erie sports an 8-0 record. It is the best start to a season for the Kats since 1985.
