Placement Test Waiver

How can I be waived from the Placement Test?

Once you apply to ECC, you should request that your official high school and college transcript(s) be forwarded to the campus you plan on attending. Once received, they will be reviewed and you will be granted a waiver from one or both portions of the placement test, if you meet any of the following.

Math - Valid 3 years from test dateEnglish - Valid 10 years from test date
SAT Scores: Math score of 500 or higher SAT Scores: Critical Reading score of 500 or higher or Combined Critical Reading and Writing score of 1000 or higher
ACT Exam: Math Score of 22 or higher ACT Exam: English score of 18 or higher and Reading score of 21 or higher
NYS Regents Exam: Algebra 2/Trigonometry or Math B score of 85 or higher NYS Regents Exam: English III score of 85 or higher
Advanced Placement (AP) Exam: Calculus exam score of 3 or better Advanced Placement (AP) Exam: English exam score of 3 or better
Determination of waiver from the placement test based on date of the college coursework may vary by department.
Completed a college level math course at an accredited college or university and received a grade of C- or better Completed a college level English course at an accredited college or university and received a grade of C- or better
