Schneider and Wolf named April Athletes of the Month

The athletic department at Erie Community College is pleased to announce the student-athletes of the month for April 2008.

Winning the award on the women’s side is Alyssa Schneider (Lockport/Lockport), a freshman from the softball team.

Schneider was a key component to the softball team both on the mound and at the plate.  She helped the team which started 0-10 to finish the season 9-7.

For the season, Schneider was 4-4 with a 6.52 ERA with five complete games. At the plate, she led the team in hitting with a .414 average.

Brian Wolf (Amherst/Canisius) claimed the men’s award for his performance on the baseball team.

The 6’0 sophomore was 5-0 with an ERA of 0.92 in 29.1 innings.  He allowed only three earned runs struck out 23 while walking only eight.

During the month, he picked up wins over Herkimer, Corning, Dundalk, Westmoreland, and Jefferson.  He threw complete-game shutouts in three of the games.

For the season, Wolf is 7-0 with a 2.15 ERA.
