
Lady Kats bowling team qualifies for IBC Tournament
The Erie Community College women’s bowling team finished fourth at the Intercollegiate Bowling Championship qualifier held March 14-15 in Allentown, PA.
The Allentown qualifier was one of four held across the country in which the top four schools from each event comprise the 16-team field. The IBC championships will be held April 15-19 in Rockford, Illinois.
The qualifier consisted of 64 Baker games over two days. The Lady Kats started off by finishing in sixth place after the first block of 16 games with a total of 2,778.
The rebounded in the next session, shooting a 2,928 to move from sixth to fourth place, a spot they would not relinquish the rest of the tournament.
Erie shot 2,886 and 2,983 over the last two blocks to qualify for the national tournament which includes two-year and four-year schools. The Lady Kats won the tournament in 1980 and 1982 and were the runners-up in 1997.
This year’s team members were: Jessica Mamon, Kerri Meden, Gina Maduri, Ally Harvey, Corey Bernard, Alyssa Murphy. The Lady Kats are coached by Tom Ruggiero and T.J. Ruggiero.
