March 7, 2008- Day Three
Relay Teams Continue to Shine for Kats at Swimming and Diving Chapionships
NJCAA National Meet- Fort Pierce, Florida

Two days after opening the NJCAA Swimming and Diving Championships with a third-place finish in the 400-yard medley relay, the Erie Community College men’s relay team of Kyle Sauer (Grand Island/Grand Island), Caleb Otto (West Seneca/Canisius), Phil Schneider (Hamburg/Frontier) and Luke MacLeod (East Aurora/East Aurora) brought home another top-four finish.

The quartet of swimmers completed the 200-yard medley relay in 1:41.98 to finish in fourth place and help propel the Kats to fifth in the overall team standings after three days of the four-day competition. Erie has 170 points, which trails fourth-place Monroe Community college by one point. However, the Kats do lead all competing non-scholarship programs.

Otto also earned an eighth-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke.

The women are in 13th-place with 12 points in the competition.  Amanda Gonter  Holland/Holland) finished 10th in the 100-yard backstroke in 1:09.35.

March 6, 2008- Day Two
Kats Stand in Fourth Place After Day 2 of NJCAA Swimming Championships

 The Erie Community College men’s swimming and diving team is in fourth place after day two of the NJCAA Swimming and Diving Championships hosted by Indian River Community College in Fort Pierce, Florida. Meanwhile, the women rank 10th after two days of competition.

Erie’s men have amassed 82 points after seven events, which is the highest among all non-scholarship programs. Indian River leads the championship with 375 points.

Kyle Sauer (Grand Island/Grand Island) and Caleb Otto  (West Seneca/Canisius) each reached the finals of their respective events  on day two.  Sauer finished eighth in the 500-yard freestyle in 4:53.87.

Otto completed the 200-yard individual medley in 2:01.10, which also was good enough for an eighth place finish.

The women have five points in the competition thanks to a 12th-place finish by Amanda Gonter  Holland/Holland) in the 200-yard individual medley. She completed the event in 2:33.91.

March 5, 2008- Day One

The ECC men's swimming team is in third place after day one of the NJCAA Swimming and Diving Championships being held at Indian River Community College in Fort Pierce, Florida.

The team has 60 points, 20 behind the leaders from Indian River and eight behind second-place Lincoln College.

The Kats got a third-place finish in the 400-yard medley relay from Kyle Sauer (Grand Island,NY/Grand Island), Caleb Otto (West Seneca,NY/Canisius), Phil Schneider (Hamburg,NY/Frontier), and Luke MacLeod (East Aurora,NY/East Aurora); one of the best finishes in school history in an event at the NJCAA Meet. All four swimmers receive All-American status from the event.

All four swimmers also competed in the 800 yard freestyle relay and finished fifth to receive honorable mention All-American status.

The meet continues Friday and Saturday.
