Student Support Service Center
(City Campus, currently under expansion at North and South)
The Student Support Service Center (SSSC) exists to provide comprehensive community based academic and personal support to all Erie Community College students. SSSC responds to individual needs of all students through a variety of services, ranging from counseling, academic advisement, or a single tutoring session to a combination of on-going multiple services including mentoring, academic, and student support services.
Our mission is based on the following: respect, confidentiality, collaboration and support, rigor and accountability, and utilizing the best practices in learning assistance to meet the ever- changing needs of our students.
Advisement Centers
(North and South)
The implementation of the Advisement Center concept integrates the advisement initiatives of academics and Student Services thus strengthening the academic advisement process and providing consistent information to new students. This concept is based on a holistic assessment of the student's background, basic skills, vocational goals, and interests. The center provides a "one-stop" opportunity for students to gain necessary information on career choices, and course selection to enable the student to enroll in college classes. College policies and procedures are also reviewed. The center is staffed by student service professionals and counselors. The Advisement Center also provides linkage to academic programs. ECC Advisement Centers deal primarily with the following student populations: non-matriculated, part-time, evening and non-high school graduates.
Access
The Access program provides support services to adult students who want to earn a 2-year college degree or college certificate of completion. The goal of the program is to give the student advice and assistance needed to complete educational goals that will allow them to enter their chosen career at a level that will enable them to support themselves. Career counseling and employment readiness training are also important parts of the program.
