Clubs and Organizations

City Campus

Membership in student organizations is open to all currently enrolled ECC students regardless of sex, disability, race, or creed and is not based on any action or situation which recklessly or intentionally endangers mental or physical health or involves the forced consumption of liquor or drugs. The officers of a student organization must meet the eligibility outlined by the college, and meet other criteria as established by the constitution of the organization. There is a “Club Day” at the beginning of the semester. For further information on student clubs and organizations, contact your campus SGA office.

Clubs may be reached via the SGA Office, Advisor mailbox (Rm. 274) or Student Services/Student Activities (Rm. 276).

Anthropology Club

The primary purposes of this organization are:

  1. To get people interested in the understanding of cultures “Anthropology”.
  2. To promote cultural awareness through field trips, lectures, movies, etc.
  3. To understand the basis of current societies by knowledge of different ethnic cultural groups.
  4. To understand the archeology of Buffalo and nearby areas by increasing the knowledge, as an example of it’s industrial, historical, and cultural past/ present needs.
  5. To promote cultural awareness by visiting and studying different cultures, sometimes outside U.S.A.

Black Student Union of ECC (BSU)

The Black Student Union, as a college student based club, does hereby dedicate itself to the development of beneficial programs for increasing Black and other ethnic minority participation on the campuses of ECC. These programs will be initiated both within and outside the college community. Members of this club are encouraged to join & participate in their individual societies. This club will endeavor to provide general counseling for all members.

Business Club

The Business Club is being organized to promote an appreciation for current business practices, which should help students choose a career. The club will use student activity funds to experience business operations and structures of companies involved in the field.

Education Opportunity Program

The purpose of the EOP Club is to create a well- rounded individual who is ready to face all of life’s challenges. Also, our purpose is to let others know that EOP is not just additional financial aid, but that we are also a much-needed lifeline in the college. We want out members to not only be academically prepared, but to also be emotionally and mentally prepared.

ECC City Campus Computer Club

The ECCCCCC was organized to encourage and promote knowledge about and use of computer and information systems technology within Erie Community College City Campus, Erie Community College as a whole, and the wider community.

Further we seek to promote knowledge about the job opportunities available to computer and information systems professionals available in the WNY area and the wider community. As a corollary of this objective we seek to promote the employment of Erie Community College graduates as computer and information systems professionals.

Recruitment of qualified students into the Computer Information Systems Department at Erie Community College City Campus and into computer and information systems programs in other departments and on other campuses will be an objective.

Film and Theatre Club

Partnered with the Mass Media Club, this club has been formed with the objective to nurture and allow students to express their artistic abilities in filmmaking, screen writing, documentaries, and what we call “Flopamentaries”, which are films based on fiction and non-fiction accounts, the viewer will decide on which is real or fiction.

Gay Straight Alliance

This group is organized to provide a secure environment in which members can openly express their sexuality and deal with relevant issues and to foster a sense of acceptance within the campus and community.

International Business Club

The International Business Club was organized to expose students to international business on a macroeconomic level. The club will use student activity funds to help students develop an appreciation for models of foreign business practices as they impact the American economy.

Mass Media

The purpose of this club is to provide opportunities for students at ECC to explore various media outlets, organizations and programs at the local, state, and national levels.

Nursing Club

The object of this club is to broaden the knowledge of the student nurse to promote an interest in student activities. It is open to all students.

Paralegal Association

The club’s main aim is to promote assistance to the paralegal student concerning both college and employment related problems.

Perkins People Project

This club has been established to offer Erie Community College Student’s diversity and a multicultural environment.

Phi Theta Kappa

This organization shall promote scholarship and the development service, and the cultivation of fellowship among qualified students on campus.

Recreation Club

The purpose of this club is to provide opportunities for students and a means for growth and enlightenment of members and co-workers in the field of recreation, and to promote the need for and the importance of recreation for all ECC students.
