The following two generic course descriptions are available to each department listed on this page.

Department Prefix 888 (Course Name) 1-6 cr. hrs.

Designates a course taken at another institution and accepted for transfer credit by the department. This course number is used whenever no comparable course exists in the college catalog. This course number may appear more than once on a student transcript.

Department Prefix 998 (Course Name) Variable Credit

Designates a new course offered by the department which is being evaluated as to the appropriateness of the course to the major and/or the interest of students in enrolling in this particular topic. This course number may appear more than once on a student transcript.

INTRO TO DANCE
Designed for the first year students in dance, introducing the fundamental principles of modern movement, involving basic dance and exercise. It covers the historical and aesthetic approach to dance as an art form. (C, N, S) (cycling)

DANCE, BALLET I
A study of the theories and techniques of classical ballet. The historic vocabulary of ballet is taught. Designed for the beginning ballet student. ( S) (cycling)

MODERN JAZZ DANCE I
This course encompasses the terminology, history, and foundation of Jazz Dance as well as current trends in the medium. Students will participate in barre work, Jazz barre, Jazz walks isolations, turns, jumps, and combinations. Attention will be given to General movements, plus special rhythms and beats, choreographed floor progressions. (C, N, S) (cycling)

AFRO-AMER DANCE I
The course will deal with the basic history of black involvement in dance. By utilizing the rhythms of the drums, folk music, jazz, rhythm and blues, the focus will be on African, jazz, and modern movements that reflect the moods, characters, and lifestyles of the African-American. (C) (cycling)
