The following two generic course descriptions are available to each department listed on this page.

Department Prefix 888 (Course Name) 1-6 cr. hrs.

Designates a course taken at another institution and accepted for transfer credit by the department. This course number is used whenever no comparable course exists in the college catalog. This course number may appear more than once on a student transcript.

Department Prefix 998 (Course Name) Variable Credit

Designates a new course offered by the department which is being evaluated as to the appropriateness of the course to the major and/or the interest of students in enrolling in this particular topic. This course number may appear more than once on a student transcript.

HEALTH EDUCATION
An overview of the field of health including personal health, community health, and safety. The transmission and control of diseases will be discussed. F/S (C, N, S)

HEALTH
Designed to bring about an awareness of the many facets of healthier living. Methods of recognizing various diseases, as well as the cause of present-day health problems will be emphasized. F/S (C, N, S)
 
HT-102
DRUG USE & ABUSE
A health elective designed to aid students in the identification of all chemicals popular in our society. An in-depth study of the effects, both physical and mental, of drugs on the individual. Included will be a review of contemporary studies dealing with health problems which plague users. F/S (C, N, S)
 
HT-103
COMMUNITY HEALTH
A course examining the responsibilities of individual citizens, government, and voluntary health agencies in solving health problems. The health services and agencies available in communities will be reviewed. F/S (C, N, S)
 
HT-105
PERSONAL HEALTH
A study of the principles, problems, and practices in the maintenance and improvement of the individuals health. The scientific approach to the solution of personal health care will be examined. F/S (C,N, S)
 
HT-106
CURR ISSUES IN HLTH
A survey course designed to take an indepth look at present-day health problems. Class topics and material will change as health issues arise during the semester. F/S (C, N, S)
 
HT-111
FOUNDATIONS OF HEALTH
Introduction to basic principles underlying good health. Included is a historical and philosophical discussion of health principles and practices. F/S (C,N, S)
 
HT-201
FIRST AID
Emphasis will be placed on knowledge and procedures in responding to emergency first aid situations. Successful completion of this course gives the student the option of receiving Red Cross Responding to Emergencies or Emergency Response certification. No prerequisite necessary. F/S (C, N, S)
