BUFFALO— SUNY Erie alumnus Nicholas S. Jones ’15—Liberal Arts and Sciences – General Studies, a 2014 SUNY Chancellor's Award for Student Excellence recipient, former Kats football player, and United States Marine Corps veteran—was recently recognized by West Seneca West High School for his service as part of its school-hosted Veterans Day ceremony on November 9, 2017.

Jones advanced from SUNY Erie to play for the University of Texas at El Paso and Buffalo State College, and now coaches football and girls basketball for West Seneca West while he works on his teaching certification.

A Marine Corps veteran who served in Afghanistan as an infantry squad leader, Jones continued his role as a mentor when he arrived at SUNY Erie. As a co-captain on the football team, member of SUNY Lobby Days, South Campus activities, and Spring Convocation, he demonstrated strong leadership skills and dedication to the development of others. These attributes where highlighted when West Seneca West honored his service earlier this month.
