a lengthy holiday break, the SUNY Erie Community College men’s hockey squad
continued their pre-vacation-established winning streak and pushed it to four
with a pair of weekend wins over Penn State Behrand, 6-2 (January 6) and 3-2
(January 7) at Buffalo’s HarborCenter.
forward Timothy Pellittieri led the Kats in the first game with four points
(two goals and two assists), while fellow forward Michal Swacha added a goal
and two assists in the win.
Kats’ success continued in Sunday’s second game. Down one goal heading into the
third period, Swacha swung into action, tying the game with a goal early in the
third. Minutes later, sophomore forward Brendan McFall scored on the power play
to give the Kats the lead and, eventually, the win.
SUNY Erie men’s hockey head to the University of Pittsburgh, where the team
will play prime-time games on January 12 and 13. Men’s and women’s basketball
return to the Burt Flickinger Athletic Center with a double-header on January
11 against Jefferson Community College, with women playing at 5 p.m., and the
men immediately after. The women will also host Howard Community College on
January 13 at 5:30 p.m. Swimming and diving will host the Erie Invitational at
the Flickinger Center January 13 at 1 p.m.; and Kats bowling travels to Utica
for the Hawk Invitational on January 14.
