The New York State Education Department requires that you attend all classroom lectures and driving labs. All students must attend 27 hours of classroom lectures and 24 hours of driving lab. A passing grade on both the written exam and driving skills tests is required.

    • Failure to meet these requirements will result in course failure and denial of your MV-285 (Certificate of Completion).
    • To ensure you receive credit for classes, you must sign-in each time for both the classroom lecture and the driving session. Without a signature, you will not receive credit for attendance and will have to make it up.
    • A fee of $45 will be charged for a missed classroom lecture or a missed driving session. $90 for a full day and $180 for two full days). Payment should be made out to ECC Driver Ed.
    • Only two absences are permitted (2 classroom lectures and/or 2 driving sessions).
    • A student with three absences will be removed from the program. No refunds will be given once the course begins. Neither work, vacation nor extracurricular activities are acceptable excuses for missing a driver education class lecture or driving session. Neither the assigned class lecture nor driving session can be changed once the course has begun.

There is a replacement fee of $25 if the Certificate of Completion has been lost and needs to be replaced.

Registration must be received by by Tuesday, September 4 for the Fall Session. Classes may fill before the above dates, so early registration is advised. Your payment ensures your spot in the class. Classes need a minimum of 17 students and will take a maximum of 36. There is a $50 cancellation fee for canceling your class within one week of the start date.
