    1. What does START stand for?

      START stands for “Support Through Advisement, Registration, Transition”.
    2. What is START?

      START is the unified and comprehensive intake process for all incoming students. By scheduling and attending a START orientation, students will participate in advisement, registration and orientation on the same day. START is mandatory for all new incoming students, including students transferring from other colleges or universities.
    3. What are the START Divisions for Orientation?

      The START Orientations are divided into academic divisions. They are Liberal Arts, Engineering and Technologies, Business and Public Service and Health Sciences.
    4. Where should I attend my START Orientation session?

      Students need to attend their respective START sessions at the campus which they plan to attend.
    5. What if I can’t make the START Orientation date on the letter?

      There are over fifty orientations developed to take place between April and August. Please contact the START office at (716) 270-2611 to reschedule your orientation.
    6. How long will my START Orientation Session take?

      START sessions typically take half a day, so plan to spend at least six hours preparing your path for your initial year at ECC.
    7. How do I know if I’m eligible for START?

      In order to participate, students must be admitted and placement tested or waived. Students are not required to be registered, since advisement and registration are part of the START program.
    8. How do I Sign Up for a START Orientation?

      • Check your ECC START Orientation Letter to confirm your scheduled START date and time.
      • Go to the registration form link which can be found on your orientation letter.
      • Reserve a spot at START by answering all of the questions in the registration form.
      • After answering all of the questions, click “Next” to submit your registration form.
