Apprenticeships & Training
SUNY Erie's Corporate Training Department offers customized instruction to support industry-specific apprenticeship programs for both entry-level workers and experienced personnel. Training, which includes both on-the-job experience and related instruction, is tailored to meet unique needs of each organization. Courses may be credit-bearing or non-credit.
The length of the training is determined by the specific occupation within the industry. We offer a variety of apprenticeship programs, including: Direct Support Professional, Direct Support Supervisor, Electrical Maintenance Technician, Machine Repairer, Machinist, Millwright, and Precision Imaging/Nanolithography Technician. New apprenticeships can be developed in collaboration with SUNY Erie.
Substantial funding opportunities may be available through SUNY to cover tuition and fees for high-demand occupations/apprenticeship programs registered with the NYS Department of Labor.

Computers and Information Technology Training
We offer customizable Computer and IT training tailored to your company's needs. Trainings
are available both in-person and virtually. The duration of training can be adjusted
as needed, based on the recommended times outlined below.
QuickBooks Online is the number one accounting software for small business. Our four-hour seated training session, or two 2-hour sessions online, will provide participants with introductory bookkeeping and accounting skills. After completing the training, participants will understand invoicing, payables, reconciling bank statements, adjusting entries, and how to organize financials into statements. The training will also help prepare participants to take the QuickBooks certification test, which is on the QuickBooks Online website.
This hands-on training is designed for professionals looking to improve productivity and collaboration using Microsoft Office 365 tools. Topics include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams. Ideal for those new to Microsoft 365 or transitioning from traditional software environments. A modular format is available for this training.
This training focuses on using Microsoft Teams, OneDrive, and SharePoint to streamline communication and document management across teams and departments. Participants will gain practical skills to enhance digital collaboration and workflow efficiency.
This course is designed for professionals who want to move beyond AI awareness and begin applying AI tools to real-world business problems. Participants will explore how AI is being used in areas such as customer service, marketing, project management, and operations. The course emphasizes practical, ready-to-use tools like chatbots, data visualization, and AI-driven decision support platforms.
Health Sciences Training
We offer the following trainings, some of which can be customized to meet your company's needs. The duration or delivery of non-certification trainings can be adjusted as necessary, based on the recommended times outlined below. Students will learn essential skills to advance their knowledge and improve their abilities as a Health Care Coordinator. This course will help individuals better understand their role as a Care Coordinator by reviewing the basic responsibilities and obligations one has to their patients. Students will also learn to advance their skills by developing effective communication skills to enhance interprofessional collaboration and patient communication. Additionally, students will learn how a patient’s health literacy can impact their overall understanding and attitude towards care and learn how to better educate patients to improve patient care outcomes. Lastly this course will help students understand how to self-evaluate their intervention and use evidence-based research to advance their approaches to care coordination.
This course, intended for current or future healthcare professionals, trains participants to promptly recognize several life-threatening emergencies, give high-quality chest compressions, deliver appropriate ventilations, and provide early use of an AED. Reflects science and education from the American Heart Association Guidelines Update for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC).
This course will provide students with the foundational skills needed to enable patients to become advocates for their own health. Students will gain engagement skills, communication skills and an understanding of the populations they may serve, while enhancing their knowledge of professional responsibilities, scope of practice, and patient rights. Students will learn how to maintain appropriate electronic health records, in addition to proper implementation of referrals. Lastly, this training will show how to document clear and concise notes that demonstrate accurate record keeping for patient sessions.
This course is designed to review a multitude of diseases and infections that occur in the workplace. The course will enable the practitioner to adequately understand the agents and their control thereby minimizing exposure to staff and to patients. A certificate issued upon completion of the course will meet the requirements of the NYS DOH Infection Control Training. This training is offered virtually.
Mandated Reporter Training includes information regarding the physical and behavioral indicators of Child Abuse and Maltreatment. This course will provide a brief overview of Child Protective Services, how to make a report, when a report should be made, legal protection and consequences of failure to make a report. A certificate of completion will be issued to verify completion of the law's requirements. This training is offered virtually.
Manufacturing, Construction, and Trades Training
We offer Manufacturing, Construction, Trades, and Safety training tailored to your company's specific needs. This training will training employees to use blueprints and necessary tools to create and measure parts accurately, ensuring a quality product. Employees will be trained to meet stringent requirements including ISO and IATF certifications required for the industry.
This course is designed to equip students with the essential skills for working in a cleanroom environment. It covers key concepts and protocols related to environmental, health, and safety standards, as well as contamination and damage control in cleanroom settings. The training combines both lectures and hands-on experience in the SUNY cleanroom facility.
This program is designed for individuals who want to gain a comprehensive understanding of key heavy truck systems, enhancing their skills and knowledge for career advancement. This cohort-based program consists of three in-person sessions, each lasting 5-6 hours, focusing on: Session 1: Air Brakes with Introduction to ABS, Session 2: Basic Electrical, and Session 3: ABS Systems
The content for this training covers welding safety, including the history and risks of Arc and MIG welding. It covers cutting methods and preparation, cutting tool selection, set-up, along with SMAW/GMAW welding processes, techniques for quality welding of thick and thin materials. Amperage, voltage, polarity settings for Arc and Mig, in addition to gasses, effects of gasses, and welding gauges will be covered. Participants will learn to differentiate constant current and voltage power sources. Additionally, training covers consumable vs non-consumable electrode, types of filler rod and designation, identifying proper electrodes, carbon, and low alloy steel covered electrode classification, as well as identifying nonferrous electrode classifications. Finally, students will understand DC Arc welding and the difference between DCEN and DCEP, and the AC current machine. The curriculum includes welding vocabulary, symbols, and hands-on lab activities.
This course covers the basic core topics for working with the AutoCAD software. Students will learn the basic tools for creating and editing 2D drawings. It then continues to explore the tools used to annotate drawings by adding text, hatching, dimensions, and tables. More advanced tools, such as working with blocks and setting up layouts, are introduced to improve employee efficiency with the software. Please note: not every command or option is covered in this training, because the intent is to show the essential tools and concepts.
Typically offered over 6 half-day sessions, this workforce course covers basic electrical principles, schematics and types of automotive electrical systems. The focus is on diagnosing and repairing circuits, batteries, starting, and charging systems. Hands-on activities develop real-world diagnostic and repair skills.
An introduction to Computer Numerical Control theory, application and programming for CNC milling machines. Students will develop standard G & M code programs used to operate CNC milling machines writing and running programs. Course hours may vary based on company need.
This course will explore issues of traditional coordinate tolerancing - and how they may be overcome by using Geometric Tolerancing. GD&T symbols, terminology and rules of Geometric Tolerancing as prescribed in the ASME Y14.5-2018 Standard will be taught. An explanation of the relationship between tolerances and how to utilize and inspect these concepts will be covered.
An introduction to machine shop theory and application. Several projects are planned and machined. Students will be required to complete tasks using hand tools and demonstrate knowledge, skills and abilities on engine lathes, vertical milling machines, pedestal grinders and band saws. They will layout, set-up and machine precision parts to specific quality standards.
This course is designed to provide students with a thorough understanding of computer aided manufacturing (CAM) software specifically MASTERCAM. Students will learn to create, modify, manipulate and import geometry. Manufacturing/machining processes will be applied to that geometry along with tools, speeds and feeds for tool path simulation and verification.
An introduction to solid modeling software for the development of three-dimensional models, assemblies and the working manufacturing drawings that detail the features of those mechanical models and assemblies. The course includes instruction for preparing both digital and actual presentations utilizing three-dimensional printing and allows the students to take a nationally recognized certification exam.
Business and Communication Training

Business Communication is important for decision making, collaboration, client relations, and productivity as well as improving customer service, preventing misunderstandings, and promoting creativity. This class includes both group instruction and one-on-one communication coaching sessions. Upon completion of the course students will gain an appreciation for the importance of both oral and written business communication, understand and avoid barriers to effective communication, and understand the key elements of nonverbal communication. The ability to use the techniques covered will greatly enhance the student’s communication skillset. This training is typically offered in a series of 2 hour sessions, but can be adjusted as needed.
Do you have new employees or legacy employees recently promoted to manager positions? All levels of the workforce need to understand the need for and the workings of organizational strategies. This training can be adapted or streamlined to fit the appropriate level of employees. So, what are organizational strategies and why are they important? Every business has priorities and a vision of the direction the business needs to take to meet those priorities. This training will present topics such as goal setting, teamwork, decision making, and the need to adapt to changes in a dynamic business environment, which are important considerations to business success today. The course also reviews the importance of strategic planning tied to budgeting and the development of business plans. Safety and Environmental Health Training

This course is designed to equip students with the essential skills for working in a cleanroom environment. It covers key concepts and protocols related to environmental, health, and safety standards, as well as contamination and damage control in cleanroom settings. The training combines both lectures and hands-on experience in the SUNY cleanroom facility.
This training is designed for hospitality professionals seeking to learn about the factors contributing to food contamination. By the end of the course, students will be prepared to implement essential food safety practices within their organization. The course concludes with the nationally recognized ServSafe Food Manager certification exam. Training consists of a 4-hour lecture which can be offered in-person or virtually, and a 2 hour in-person certification exam.
The OSHA Outreach Training Program provides training on the recognition, avoidance, abatement, and prevention of workplace hazards. Outreach classes also provide overview information regarding OSHA, including workers' rights, employer responsibilities, and how to file a complaint. The 10-hour training program, typically provided over the course of two days, is primarily intended for entry level workers. Students receive an OSHA 10-hour course completion card at the end of the training.
This course will cover the materials necessary to pass the EPA Section 608 Universal certificate. Areas of study will include EPA sections 608 and 609, of the Clean Air Act and the Montreal and Kyoto Protocols. The course will also cover CFCs, HCFCs, and HFCs refrigerants, their handling, and recovering procedures mandated by the EPA. This course is typically offered in three, five-hour sessions.
